Coaster with the painting Traditional Fish Trap by June Djiagween
"Traditional Fish Trap"
The traditional fish traps were and still are used to catch sea animals. They are made out of rocks. They work with the tides, so it is high tide, the animal will swim inside without knowing that they are inside the wall of rocks. When the tide goes down the water comes out of the rocks and the fish/turtels/stingrays remain on the inside. The men then catch them with spears or with their bare hands.
